Why Coron Palawan is best for diving?
Coron is part of the Calamian archipelago in Northern Palawan. It’s easily accessible by plane from Manila, and the town of Busuanga is where most scuba adventures start. The airport is about an hour from Coron town, and from here you can catch a tourist bangka or dive boat to get to the main dive sites.
TE: Coron is famous for its wrecks and there are about 10 of them that you can dive in the area. The biggest one is Okikawa Maru and it’s 160 meters long. There’s also the CYC beach, the Black Island Wreck, and a couple of really small wrecks like the gum boats and the skeleton wreck.
Another popular attraction in the area is the Cathedral Cave, which is located on the eastern side of Coron Island. It’s a tunnel-like dive that’s home to lobsters, crabs and molluscs as well as beautiful stalactites and windows where light streams in. The dive is suitable for most levels, but it’s best for advanced divers. It’s a great place to take photos and it’s definitely worth checking out! The entrance is at a depth of 6 to 10 metres/19 to 32 feet.
